Scenario:

Bad Gateway Error occurs when accessing Linksys Smart WiFi (EA) Routers.

Solution:

Perform a manual firmware upgrade by bypassing Smart Setup.

1. Download the latest firmware from the Linksys Support Site. If you cannot access the Internet behind the router, connect your computer directly to the modem. For steps on how to download the firmware, click here.

2. Reset the router.

3. Bypass the Smart Setup by checking both boxes on the initial Setup screen.

4. Log in to the web-based setup page using the default password and do a manual firmware upgrade. For instructions on how to upgrade the firmware manually, click here.

NOTE: The default password is admin.

5. Reset the router and run Smart Setup.

NOTE: For other EA models, either run the Setup CD or download latest Setup software from the web from other Internet source.
