This article applies to the following Linksys models:

  • LN1100
  • LN1400
  • MX6200 series (with the latest firmware)
  • MBE7000 series (with the latest firmware)

If you have a Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet (PPPoE) internet connection or any other connection that requires manual setting, this article will show you how to configure the router using a PPPoE internet connection.

Before you begin:

  • You will need your PPPoE or other Internet Service Provider (ISP) provider settings ready, such as your account name and password, etc. Passwords are case-sensitive.
  • Write down the WiFi name, password, and recovery key located at the bottom of the parent router.
  • Parent router - It refers to the node that will be connected to your modem.
  • Child node - An additional node to expand your WiFi, such as another Linksys Mesh node.

Images may vary by router model.

Depending on the router's current setup status, choose one of the options below:

A. Plug-and-Play Setup Wizard (preferred method)
B. Manual setup (requires a computer)

A. Plug-and-Play Setup Wizard (preferred method)

1. Gather all your equipment in the same area as your modem for setup. After they're set up, you can relocate your child nodes.

2. Remove any existing router.

a. I have a modem with a separate router.

    • Disconnect your existing router.

b. I have a WiFi router and modem in one device, or I do not have any existing routers in my home.

    • Go to the next step.

3. Connect the parent router with an ethernet cable from the Internet port to your modem and power it ON.

4. Wait until your parent router has a solid blue light, which indicates it is ready for setup.

If the router's light is red, reset it by holding down the reset button for about 15 seconds, then wait until the light becomes solid blue.

5. Connect a mobile device or computer to the default WiFi name of the parent router. The WiFi credentials are located on the bottom of the parent router.

6. Open a web browser, enter "www.myrouter.info" or "myrouter.info" in the Address bar, and click [Enter]. You can also log in using "https://192.168.1.1" which is the router's default IP address.

If you receive any browser warning messages, follow these steps to continue.

7. Click Continue.

For Linksys MX6200 and MBE7000, if you get the following screen, your router may be on an older firmware; you need to set up the router first using a web browser.

8. Click on Enter ISP Settings.

9. Select PPPoE or another type of connection that requires manual settings.

10. Enter your PPPoE Account Name and Password or other additional settings and click Next.

If you receive the following error, double-check your settings. The password is case-sensitive. You may need to contact your ISP to verify your required settings, then try the steps again.

11. When prompted, customize your WiFi name and password and click Next. The WiFi password is case-sensitive. Write down your new WiFi name and password.

12. Enable the Guest Network if needed. Give your Guest Network a different WiFi name to share with your guests. You can change this at any time through the web interface. Click Next.

13. Enable the Night Mode feature if needed. You can change this setting at any time through the web interface. Click Next.

14. Wait while your settings are being saved. When prompted with the following message, reconnect your device to the new WiFi name and then click Next.

15. If you are adding child nodes, click Add Nodes. If you don’t have any child nodes to add yet, click Next.

16. Power ON the child nodes near the parent router during setup. They should be no more than 10 ft away from the router; the closer, the better. Wait until they have a solid blue light.

Ready for setup

If any of the new child nodes have a red light, hold down the reset button for about 15 seconds to restore to factory defaults.

17. Click Next.

18. The router will begin scanning for unconfigured nodes. Once the nodes are detected, the child node’s light will begin blinking. This can take a few minutes.

19. You will then get a list of all your nodes in the network. Click Next.

Child node not found or not showing on the list?

  • Check the light on the child node. If it’s blinking white or solid white, the node has been added successfully. It’s possible the node is taking a little bit longer to show on the list. It is okay to click Next. Once the lights on the child nodes are solid white, you can check the Device List in the web interface.
  • If the light on the child node is solid blue, try clicking on Add Nodes again. Make sure the node is no more than 10 ft away from the parent router; the closer, the better. You can also complete the wizard and then try other methods of adding a child node.

20. Click Next.

21. Click Finish.

22. From a web browser, click on the www.myrouter.info. You can also use myrouter.info to access the router’s settings or use the default IP address of https://192.168.1.1 from a web browser.

23. Click the Reset password link to customize your router password. Enter the recovery key when prompted; this is located on the bottom of the parent router. Then create a new router password and click Submit

24. You will now land on the router dashboard settings.

Your network is now ready to use. You may need to refresh the dashboard to display your new WiFi settings. You can now relocate the child nodes and connect your devices to your WiFi.

If you run into problems with the Plug-and-Play Setup Wizard, you can bypass the setup wizard and log in to the router’s dashboard to access the advanced settings.
