The warranty period is dependent on the country of purchase.
The node has one status indicator light that gives information about its operation.
No, wall mounting is not supported.
No, Linksys Intelligent Mesh™ products are not compatible with Linksys Cognitive Mesh products.
It has five ethernet ports:
- One internet port (2.5 Gbps)
- Four ethernet ports (1 Gbps per port)
The Blink node light feature on the Linksys MBE7000 is a tool designed to help you locate a specific node within your mesh network. When activated, the node’s light will blink, allowing you to easily identify it among other nodes.
The Night mode feature of the Linksys MBE7000 allows you to disable the light on the router and its nodes during specified hours. This helps minimize distractions or light disturbances in low-light environments, such as bedrooms or living spaces while maintaining network functionality.
No, these features are only supported on Linksys Cognitive Mesh products, such as the Linksys MX6200 and MBE7000.
The MLO feature is currently in beta.
NOTE: The 802.11be standard is anticipated to receive IEEE workgroup approval by September 2024, with Wi-Fi Alliance interoperability testing ongoing through CY24. Wi-Fi 7 features like MLO are expected to improve over the next year as device vendors roll out software updates to enable support. This ongoing development is why MLO remains in the beta phase.
SETUP AND INSTALLATION
Setting up the router is quick and easy using the Linksys app. If you encounter issues with Bluetooth® setup or prefer not to use it, you can alternatively set up the router via the temporary WiFi setup using your mobile device.
If you're using a mix of Linksys MBE7000 and MX6200 nodes, ensure that the Linksys MBE7000 is the parent node in your network for optimal wireless performance.
Below are the requirements for setting up the Linksys MBE7000.
- An active internet connection
- The latest Linksys app version with a Linksys cloud account to manage your network from anywhere
- An iOS or Android™ mobile device
During the initial setup of the parent node, the setup wizard will guide you through the process of adding another Linksys MBE7000 as a child node.
To add a child node to an existing network, open the Linksys app, tap the menu icon, select Set up a New Product, and follow the on-screen prompts.
To configure the Guest network feature on the Linksys app, open the menu, select Guest Network on iOS or Guest Access on Android, toggle the switch to enable the feature, adjust your settings, and then tap Save.
Below are the default settings of the router:
- The default IP address is 192.168.1.1.
- The default WiFi name is _VelopSetupxxx where xxx represents the last three hexadecimal characters of the node’s MAC address.
- Each node has a unique pre-assigned WiFi password located at the bottom of the node.
- The default Guest WiFi name is _VelopSetupxxx-guest where xxx represents the last three hexadecimal characters of the node’s MAC address.
- The default administrative password automatically changes to an unknown password if the router has been set up with the Linksys app. When you log in to the Linksys app or the router's web interface, you will be prompted for the Recovery key to customize the router password.
Yes, it supports WPS pairing via the soft button in the Linksys app or through the web interface.
SECURITY AND PRIVACY
The Linksys MBE7000 supports the following settings:
- WPA2™/WPA3™ Mixed Personal
- WPA3 Personal
- WPA2 Personal
- Enhanced Open Only
- Open and Enhanced Open

Safe Browsing enhances network security by blocking unwanted content on connected devices using Domain Name System (DNS) protection. The Linksys MBE7000 supports either OpenDNS or Fortinet Security, but only one option can be active at a time.
Linksys Privacy is a commitment to safeguarding your data. Linksys does not track your app usage or online activities, use tracking cookies in its products or apps, or share or sell your data for marketing purposes.
While the Apple® HomeKit integration feature is not supported, your HomeKit-enabled devices will still operate normally, as they are treated as regular clients on your network.
ADVANCED TROUBLESHOOTING
You can access the node's dashboard using the Linksys app or the web interface.
After completing the setup of your parent and child nodes in the Linksys app, it may take a few minutes for the child nodes to establish a connection. Once connected, the child nodes will display a solid white light. Additionally, the app will update each node's status to reflect the successful connection.
To set up your child nodes, ensure they are placed near the parent node (the node connected to your modem), ideally within 10 feet. If possible, position them in the same room as the parent node during setup. Once the nodes are successfully added, you can relocate them to your desired locations.
To reset the router, press and hold the reset button for 10–20 seconds.
While holding the button, the router's light will display a fading red pattern. This pattern will stop after about 10 seconds, and the light will turn OFF. At this point, release the reset button and wait for the router to reboot. Wait for the light to turn solid blue, indicating that the node is ready to be set up.
The node automatically installs the latest firmware overnight and the upgrade only takes a few minutes. Make sure Automatic Firmware Update is ON. You can also manually check the firmware version of the routers and proceed with the upgrade if a new firmware is available.
No, it is highly recommended to make the Linksys MBE7000 the parent router because it is a Wi-Fi 7 device. All other child nodes can be either another Linksys MBE7000 or a Linksys MX6200 for better wireless performance. If you have an existing network, you will need to reset your network and make the Linksys MBE7000 the parent node.
If the node is not a Linksys Cognitive Mesh router, it will not be detected. Linksys Cognitive Mesh routers are incompatible with Linksys Intelligent Mesh routers. Ensure the node you are adding is part of the Linksys Cognitive Mesh series.
To connect to the 6 GHz radio band, the client device must support Wi-Fi 6E or Wi-Fi 7. If your device supports either, try moving it closer to one of the nodes for troubleshooting purposes.
