Quality of Service (QoS) is used to set up priority to specific devices, services or applications within the network through the router so that the maximum amount of available throughput and speed can be used.
Follow the steps below to configure the QoS for device prioritization for the Linksys Dual-Band WiFi Router:
1. Log in to the Linksys Dual-Band WiFi Router's web interface. For instructions, click here.
2. Click the Configuration tab.
3. Click Security and then select QoS.
NOTE: Wi-Fi Multimedia (WMM) Support is a wireless QoS feature that improves quality for audio, video, and voice applications by prioritizing wireless traffic. It is Enabled by default. Check the No Acknowledgement box if you do not want your router to resend data whenever an error occurs.
4. Check the Internet Access Priority box.
NOTE: You can set the Upstream Bandwidth to Auto or Manual. This option sets the maximum upstream bandwidth of your internet connection. To allow the router to detect the maximum, retain the default setting, Auto. To specify the maximum, select Manual then enter the appropriate bandwidth and select Kbps or Mbps.
5. Click on the drop-down arrow to select the appropriate Category based on how you want to set up priority. You can choose from Applications, Online Games, MAC Address and Voice Device.
6. Choose an application or game in the drop-down list or enter the MAC address of the chosen device then select the desired level of priority.
7. Click Apply then click on Save.
NOTE: The changes you made would appear right away in the Summary table below.
