Overview of the PoE+ settings of a Linksys Managed Switch for Business
print icon

The PoE+ settings page of your Linksys Managed Switch for Business contains PoE subsystem information for monitoring the current power usage and assigns the total amount of power the switch can provide to all of its PoE+ ports. To access this page, follow the steps below:

1. Log in to the switch's web interface.

2. Click on the menu icon located at the upper-left corner of the web interface.

3. Click on Configure > PoE+.

NOTE: A few settings may vary by model. In the example below, Linksys LGS352MPC is used.

Below are settings which can be configured under the PoE+ page:

  • Total Power Budget: Allows you to enter the amount of power the switch can provide to all ports.
  • Consumed Power: Displays the total amount of power watts being delivered to all PoE+ ports.

NOTE: The total power budget will differ for every Linksys Managed Switch for Business.

Make sure to click on Apply to save your settings.

PoE+ Port Settings

Select a Port and click on the Edit button to make changes. After changing your port settings, make sure to scroll down and click Apply to save your settings.

Port Displays the specific port number of the switch.
State Disables/enables PoE on the port. By default, all ports are PoE-enabled.
Priority
Selects the port priority if the power supply is low. For example, if the power supply is running at 99% usage, and port 1 is prioritized as high, and port 6 is prioritized as low, port 1 is prioritized to receive power and port 6 may be denied power. For example: First check the box of port/s 2 and 3, click Edit then click on the drop down menu to select High priority. Then click on Apply. We have now prioritized port 2 and 3 to High.
Power Limit Type
Shows the classification of the powered device. Choose between Auto Class or User defined. Select a port first, click Edit and select a Power Limit Type. When choosing User defined, indicate the appropriate Power Limit of the connected device. The value must be within 1 to 30W.
User Power Limit (W)

Sets the maximum amount of power that can be delivered by a port. Value range is from 1—30W.

NOTES:

  • The User Power Limit can only be implemented when the Class value is set to User defined.
  • The value may vary depending on what your PoE switch can support.
Status

Shows the port’s PoE status. The possible field values are:

  • Delivering Power: The device is enabled to deliver power via the port.
  • Disabled: The device is disabled to deliver power via the port.
  • Test Fail: The powered device's test has failed. For example, a port could not be enabled and cannot be used to deliver power to the powered device.
  • Testing: The powered device is being tested. For example, a powered device is tested to confirm if it is receiving power from the power supply.
  • Searching: The device is currently searching for a powered device. Searching is the default PoE operational status.
  • Fault: The device has detected a fault on the powered device when the port is forced on. For example, the power supply voltage is out of range, a short occurs, there is a communication error with the PoE devices, or an unknown error occurs.
Class

NOTE: Watt value may vary depending on what your PoE supports.

The possible field values are:

  • Class 0: The maximum power level at the Power Sourcing Equipment is 15.4W.
  • Class 1: The maximum power level at the Power Sourcing Equipment is 4.0W.
  • Class 2: The maximum power level at the Power Sourcing Equipment is 7.0W.
  • Class 3: The maximum power level at the Power Sourcing Equipment is 15.4W.
  • Class 4: The maximum power level at the Power Sourcing Equipment is 30W.
Output Voltage (V)
Output Current (mA)
