The Linksys WUSB6300 features the Wireless-AC technology that upgrades your computer to the latest Wi-Fi® standard.  It can provide a faster and more reliable internet connection with speeds of up to 867 Mbps on the 5 GHz band.

This article will help you install the drivers using several methods:

Installing the drivers using the Setup Wizard
Installing the stand-alone drivers manually
Installing the drivers automatically

The images and steps may vary if you are using the Linksys WUSB6300 v1.

Before you begin:

 

• If you will be using the Setup Wizard to install the adapter, you must run the Setup Wizard first without the adapter connected.

NOTE:  If you accidentally plugged in the adapter first, there may be a chance that Windows® may not recognize it and the drivers will fail to install. If this happens, you can manually update the drivers.

• The Linksys WUSB6300 v2 is compatible with Windows 8, Windows 8.1, and Windows 10. For Mac OS, it is compatible with OS X® 10.11 to OS X 10.15 operating systems. To learn how to set up the adapter using a Mac® computer, click here.
• Download the Setup Wizard or drivers from the WUSB6300 Downloads page.

Installing the drivers using the Setup Wizard

 

1. Once you have downloaded the Setup Wizard, unzip the file.

 

2. Click on Setup.exe to begin the installation and click Next>.

 

 

3. Click Restart Now or Restart Later when prompted. You will need to connect the adapter AFTER you restart the computer.

 

 

4. Click Finish.

 

 

 

Installing the stand-alone drivers manually

If you have already connected the adapter and the operating system failed to find a driver, you will need to point it to the right driver folder for your operating system.

 

To confirm what version of Windows you are running, type "System" in the Search bar and click on System when it pops up.
 

 

 

 

Then download the drivers for your Windows operating system from the WUSB6300 Downloads page and extract the zip file.

 

1. Once you have downloaded the drivers, connect the adapter to an available USB port. 

 

2. In the lower left-hand side, type "Device Manager" in the Search field. In the search results, click on Device Manager.

 

 

 

In the Device Manager window, if there is a problem with the device driver, it will appear under Other devices with a yellow exclamation mark.

 

 

If the adapter appears under Network Adapters as shown below, the drivers have already been installed successfully. There is no need to continue and you may now connect to a Wi-Fi network.

 

 

3. Right-click the adapter and select Update driver.

 

 

4. Click Browse my computer for driver software.

 

 

5. Click the Browse button and then proceed to the location where you saved your drivers. Then select the driver folder for your Windows operating system and click OK.

 

 

6. Click Next to begin installing the drivers.

 

 

7. Click Close once the drivers have been installed.

 

 

Once the drivers are installed, the adapter will appear under Network Adapters.

 

 

8. When the driver installation is completed, you need to connect to a Wi-Fi network.

NOTE:  If you have installed a second wireless adapter that you do not wish to use, you need to disable the wireless adapter.

 

9. Save all the files that you are working on and restart your computer.

 

10. Once your computer has restarted, plug in the Linksys WUSB6300 v2 into an available USB port and wait for the drivers to install.

 

11. Confirm if your adapter is installed by checking Device Manager. The adapter will appear under Network Adapters once it has been installed.

 

12. Connect to your Wi-Fi network.

If your computer comes with a Wi-Fi adapter, you should disable that adapter to use your Linksys WUSB6300 v2 for Wi-Fi connectivity.

 

Installing the drivers automatically

If your computer is running the latest Windows updates, setting up the Linksys WUSB6300 v2 can be done automatically.   
 

1. Plug the adapter into an available USB port on your computer.   

2. Wait for Windows to automatically install the drivers for the adapter.

3. Once the driver is installed, click the Wi-Fi icon, select your Wi-Fi, and then enter the Wi-Fi password to connect. If Windows does not detect the drivers, you will need to download drivers from the WUSB6300 Downloads page.
