The Linksys Dual-Band WiFi Router  delivers enhanced speed, range, and security for all your networking needs which allows you to swiftly stream HD videos, surf, email, play games online, browse, and chat.

This article will provide instructions on how to manually set up the Linksys Dual-Band WiFi Router.

Before you begin:

 

• Take note of the default WiFi name and password of your router located on a label at the bottom of the router. The WiFi password is case-sensitive.
• Make sure you have a working internet connection.
• Power ON your modem and connect an ethernet cable from the modem to the internet port of the router. Wait until the power light is solid blue. If you are replacing an existing router, make sure to disconnect, turn OFF, and remove the old one.
• Connect the power adapter to the router.

 

1. Connect to the default WiFi name of the router.

 

NOTE:  The default WiFi name is Linksysxxxxx or Linksysxxxxx_5GHz (where xxxxx represents the last five digits of the router's serial number).

 

 

2. Launch a browser and enter either "http://192.168.1.1" or "http://myrouter.local".

 

NOTE:  If you changed the IP address of the router, use that instead. If you still can’t access the login screen, you need to determine your router’s IP address. To do this, make sure you are connected to your Linksys router’s WiFi name.

 

3. On the Let’s get started screen, check the box and click Cancel.

 

 

4. Click Close to exit the setup wizard.

 

 

5. Enter the router's default password, which is "admin".

 

 

6. To start manually configuring your settings, click on the Configuration tab then go to Wi-Fi > Basic Wireless Settings.

 

 

QUICK TIP:  Make sure to check the EasyMesh box if you will be extending your WiFi with other Linksys EasyMesh child nodes using the EasyMesh feature. If you do not have any additional child nodes, leave it unchecked.

 

 

7. Customize your 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wireless Settings and click Save once you're done.

 

 

8. While the router applies the changes for each radio band, you will lose WiFi connection momentarily. Connect your computer to the WiFi you just created then enter the default WiFi password located at the bottom of the router when prompted.

 

 

9. Log back into the router, go to the Configuration tab then click on Wi-Fi > Wireless Security to customize your WiFi password (Passphrase) and click Save.

 

 

10. While the router is applying the changes, you will lose WiFi connectivity. Once the changes have been applied, click on the WiFi and enter your new WiFi password to connect.

 

 

NOTE:  If you are unable to connect, you may need to delete the WiFi profile on your device and try to reconnect again.

 

 

11. Log back into the router, go to the Configuration tab then click on Administration > Password and change the default Router Password (highly recommended).

 

 

12. If the router's Internet light does not turn solid blue, you may need to configure your internet settings. To do this, go to the Configuration tab then click Connectivity > WAN Setup. Select your type of internet connection, enter the required settings then click Save. Wait until the Internet light turns solid blue.

 

 

NOTE:  For a DHCP connection, there is no need to enter any settings. You may have to just power cycle your modem and wait for the light on the router to turn solid blue.
