This troubleshooting guide is designed to help you set up your router after switching internet service providers (ISPs).

For automatic configuration, please refer to the following knowledge base articles:

Setting up the Linksys Mesh node using temporary WiFi with the Linksys app
How to set up a Linksys Mesh router

Follow the steps below if your internet connection is either of the following:

  • PPPoE (requires username and password) or;
  • Static (requires a static IP address, subnet mask, default gateway, and DNS from your ISP)

There are two approaches to troubleshooting based on the router's previous state: the power cycle, which involves restarting the router without resetting it, and the factory reset, which returns the router to its default settings.

First scenario: The router was not reset to factory default

1. Access the web interface by opening a web browser, entering "www.myrouter.info" or "myrouter.info" into the Address bar, and pressing [ENTER].

You can also log in using the default IP address of the router which is https://192.168.1.1.

2. If you receive a browser error message, follow these steps to resolve this issue.

3. Enter your router’s admin password and click Sign In.

4. Once logged in, click on Connectivity under Router Settings.

5. Go to Internet Settings, and click on Edit alongside Type of Internet Connection.

6. Select PPPoE or Static IP depending on the settings provided by the ISP. In this example, we're setting up the router for a PPPoE connection.

7. Enter the PPPoE settings from your ISP.

8. Click on Apply then hit Ok to save your changes.

9. Go to Troubleshooting.

10. Click on Report.

The Connection Type should show PPPoE. Make sure the status is Connected.

11. You can also go to the dashboard and check the Network Status. It should show Connected and online if the PPPoE settings were correctly set.

Second scenario: The router was reset to factory default settings

If a setup wizard is available, you can either follow the wizard or choose the manual setup option shown above.

If you have a Linksys Cognitive™ Mesh node that has been reset, refer to the screenshots below for guidance on configuring it using the setup wizard.

Select PPPoE or Static IP depending on the settings provided by the ISP. Enter your settings and click Next.

Complete the remaining setup steps until you are taken back to the web interface.
