How to disable the Wi-Fi (Apple AirPort Time Capsule or AirPort Extreme)

This article will walk you through general instructions on how you can disable the Wi-Fi on the Apple AirPort Time Capsule® or Apple AirPort Extreme®.

NOTE:  The steps and instructions may vary depending on your router/gateway’s model.  Contact your device’s manufacturer for support.


Before you begin
  • Make sure that the computer you use to access the web-based setup page of your router or gateway is either wired to it directly or is connected to it via Wi-Fi.
  • Make sure to know your login credentials as these differ for every manufacturer.  Contact your device’s manufacturer for support.

You can disable the Wi-Fi of a base station in the AirPort Utility.
 
1. Launch Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility.

2. Choose your base station and click on Edit.

3. When prompted, enter the base station’s admin password.

4. Click on the Wireless tab.

5. In the Network Mode pop-up menu, select Off.

6. Click on Update.  The base station will restart and load the new settings.
