Manual router setup may be required in specific situations. Although the Linksys MX4300 (LN1301) generally supports a Plug-n-Play setup, there are instances where it may not activate. This can happen with a PPPoE connection or due to other factors preventing online connectivity.

Before you begin:

  • You will need a computer.
  • Write down the WiFi name, password, and recovery key (located at the bottom of the router).
  • If you have a PPPoE connection, ensure your username and password are ready.
  • This model does not support Linksys Mesh technology.

Directions

1. Disconnect your current router.

2. Connect your modem to the router's Internet port using an ethernet cable.

3. Turn ON the router and wait for the indicator light to become solid purple, signaling it's ready for setup.

If the light is not solid purple, press and hold the reset button for about 15 seconds, then wait until the light turns solid purple.

4. Connect a computer to the default WiFi name and password (located on the product label).

5. Launch a browser, enter "https://192.168.1.1" (the default IP address of the router) in the Address bar, and then hit [ENTER].

If you see the error shown below, follow these steps to proceed.

6. Enter the router password and then click Sign In. The default password is the same as the default WiFi password (located on the product label).

To change or reset the password, select Reset password and follow the on-screen instructions.

7. You are now on the router dashboard. Take note that the Network Status shows No Internet Connection.

8. Click on Connectivity > Internet Settings and click on Edit.

9. Select the network Connection Type (e.g., PPPoE, Static IP, Automatic Configuration - DHCP) and enter your ISP settings accordingly. Click on Apply, then Ok.

10. Wait until the Network Status shows Connected on the dashboard. Refresh the page if needed.

11. Once the status shows Connected, your network is ready to use. To manage or customize your network settings you can always come back to the dashboard and make your changes.

If the light on top of the router did not change to solid blue, learn how to resolve it.
