Wi-Fi Protected Setup™ (WPS) allows seamless wireless connection for supported devices like printers. This article outlines three methods based on your client device.

Before you begin:

  • If you encounter problems with the WPS setup, such as Connection Failure! Your client device failed to connect to the network. Refer back to your client device for further instructions. Press "OK" to continue., you may need to manually configure your router’s WiFi settings.
  • WPS sets up one device at a time. The WPS button is typically found on the front or back panel of your Linksys device. Some Wireless-G routers may not support WPS, so check your product documentation for details.

Using the WPS button

Use this method if your client device has a WPS button or if it prompts you to press the WPS button on your router.

1. Locate and press the WPS button on your router.

Alternatively, you can configure WPS through your router’s web interface by clicking the WPS button. Open a web browser, enter "192.168.1.1" in the Address bar, and press [Enter]. You will be asked for your login details. When prompted, leave the User name field blank, enter admin as the password, and click OK.

2. Within 2 minutes, press the WPS button on your client device to connect to the router’s WiFi network.

After the process, your device should be connected to your router via WiFi.

To learn how to use the WPS feature on your client device, refer to its documentation.
