How to manually update the firmware on a configured Linksys LN1200
print icon

It is highly recommended to turn ON automatic firmware updates on the network that your Linksys LN1200 child node is connected to. When new firmware becomes available for child nodes, your child nodes will automatically update. However, if a Linksys LN1200 child node is not getting the updated firmware, there is a way to manually upgrade the firmware.

In this example, it is assumed that your Linksys LN1200 is connected to a network with a Linksys LN1100 as the parent router. If the Linksys LN1200 is on factory defaults, click
here for instructions.

Choose a method to upgrade:

  • You will need a computer.
  • Write down the last five digits of the Linksys LN1200 serial number that you will be updating.

1. Download the latest firmware from the Linksys LN1200 support site

2. Connect a computer to the Linksys LN1100 network’s WiFi name.

3. Open a web browser and enter one of the following links:

  • https://linksysxxxxx.local/fwupdate.html (where xxxxx are the last five digits of the serial number); in this example, the node is linksys00117.
  • https://192.168.1.x/fwupdate.html (if you know the IP address of the child node, enter https://192.168.1.x/CA, where x is the last octet of the IP address); in this example, the node is 192.168.1.141.

ALWAYS TRIPLE CHECK that the password prompt displays the Linksys LN1200 that you are trying to access before you proceed depending on the link that you used.
