To connect to a hidden WiFi network, manually enter the WiFi details. This guide outlines the steps to connect securely.
To connect a device to a network with disabled WiFi, you will need the following:
- WiFi name (SSID) or Network Name
- WiFi security mode or Security Type
- WiFi security key or passphrase
Ensure you review your router's WiFi settings before attempting to connect. Remember, the WiFi password or security key is case-sensitive.
For device-specific connection instructions, select a Windows® operating system below. If you are using a Mac® computer, follow these instructions.
1. Click the Windows Start button.
2. Type in "Settings" and then click on Open.
3. Select Network & internet, then click on Wi-Fi.
4. Click on Manage known networks.
5. Click Add network.
6. Enter your Network name, then select the Security type your router uses. Make sure to choose a security type that is not Open.
7. Enter your WiFi Security key then click Save.
Your computer is now connected to your hidden WiFi.
1. Click the Windows start button on the bottom left.
2. Type in "Settings" and click on Open.
3. Select Network & Internet.
4. Select Wi-Fi.
5. Click on Manage known networks.
6. Click Add a new network.
7. Enter your Network name, then select the Security type your router uses.
8. Enter your WiFi Security key then click Save.
Your computer is now connected to the hidden WiFi.
Once connected, your computer will detect and display the hidden network’s SSID whenever it is within range. However, other devices that have not previously connected will still be unable to see the network.
