This article will guide you on how to manually update the firmware on a Linksys LN1200 that has been reset and is on factory defaults. If your child node is already working and it’s part of a network, click here.
In this example, it is assumed that your Linksys LN1200 is on factory defaults, is NOT part of an existing network, and has a solid blue light.
Before you begin:
- Write down the WiFi name and password located at the bottom of the Linksys LN1200. The password is case sensitive.
- Write down the last five digits of the Linksys LN1200's serial number.
- You will need a computer with wireless capabilities.
1. Download the latest firmware from the Linksys LN1200 support site.
2. Power ON the Linksys LN1200 and wait until the node has a solid blue light. If the light is red, you will need to reset it by holding down the reset button for about 15 seconds.
3. Connect a computer to the WiFi name and password of the Linksys LN1200.
4. Open a web browser and enter "https://linksysxxxxx.local/fwupdate.html" where xxxxx is the last five digits of the serial number.
IMPORTANT: Make sure that on the password prompt, the right child node is being displayed. In this example, linksys00072 is the node being used.
If you receive a browser message such as the one shown below, follow these instructions to bypass it.
5. Enter "admin" as the username and password.
6. Click Choose File, then select the firmware file you previously downloaded and click Update.
7. Wait until you get an OK. The child node will proceed with the update and reboot.
8. Once the status light is back to solid blue, the Linksys LN1200 is ready to be set up again.
