Managing devices in the network using the Network Map tool

This article will give you instructions on how to change a connected device's name and icon, and remove devices connected to your Linksys Smart WiFi Router using the Network Map tool.  

NOTE: The Network Map tool in some Linksys Smart WiFi Routers is labelled as Device List

1. Log in the the router's web interface. 
 
2. Click Network Map on the Smart WiFi Tools navigation menu.

 

 

3. Click the connection type icon beside your chosen device then select Device Info to display details such as Name, Manufacturer, Model, OS, IP Address, and MAC Address.

 




NOTE: You can also click on the device icon to display the details instead.

 

4. Click the Change link to change the icon displayed for this device.

 

 

5. Select an icon from the available icons that you want to use for your device.

 

 

6. Click Ok to save the changes.

 
Changing the name of the device
 

1. Log in the the router's web interface. 
 
2. Click Network Map on the Smart WiFi Tools navigation menu.

3. Click the My Network tab.

 

 

4. Click the connection type icon beside your chosen device then select Device Info.

 

 

5. Click Edit then enter the new name for the device.

 

 

IMPORTANT: If you change the name of the router, the new name will also be displayed automatically on the network's drop-down list on the top of the Home page.
 
6. Click Ok to save the changes.

 
Viewing connected devices
 
Wired and wireless devices that are currently connected to your network can be viewed on the Network Map on LinksysSmartWiFi.com.  

 

 


By clicking on the Filter map drop-down menu, you can view the devices by group. Listed below are the categories available.
 
DEVICE TYPE:

  •  

CONNECTION TYPE:

  •  - Local Area Network
  •  - Wireless devices connected to the 2.4 GHz frequency
  •  - Wireless devices connected to the 5 GHz frequency
  • User-added image - Offline devices 


QUICK TIP: The device’s status should be Offline before you can remove it from your network. To remove a device, select the offline device and click Delete Device.
 

 
In case you encounter issues while using your Linksys cloud account, you can try any of the steps below:

 

  • Close the Linksys cloud account then re-open it.
  • Temporarily disable any security on your computer such as your anti-virus or Windows® firewall then re-enable them after using the Linksys cloud account.
  • Use another computer that is also connected to your network.
