How to configure MAC address filtering on a Linksys E9450 router
print icon

The Linksys E9450 WiFi 6 Router is a dual-band router with 802.11ax standard that delivers extremely fast speed of up to 5.4 Gbps. It also features the next generation WPA3™ Wi-Fi security providing more robust password-based authentication.

The Media Access Control (MAC) address is a unique identifier assigned to each network adapter or Network Interface Card (NIC) of a computer or device. It is a wireless security option that you can use instead of setting up a WiFi password to protect your network. The MAC Filtering feature of Linksys E9450 will allow or prevent access to the network using this unique identifier.

Before you begin:

  • This option is only available when the router is set up as a Non-Mesh System.
  • If you enable this option, the Wi-Fi Protected Setup™ (WPS) feature will be disabled.
  • Your router should be set up properly before you can access this feature.

Directions

1. Launch a web browser, enter “192.168.79.1” in the Address bar, and press [Enter]. You can also use “linksysxxxxx” (the x's are the last five characters of the serial number located on the product label).

2. Enter your credentials then click Apply. If you did not change your credentials, the default username and password is admin.

3. Go to the Wireless tab and click SSID.

4. In the MAC Address Filtering section, click the dropdown menu and select Disable or Enable.

5. Enter the MAC address of the computer or device that you want to deny or allow access to your network.

6. Click Apply.
