As technology evolves, Linksys systematically reallocates resources more towards the latest devices and technologies.
Here are the updates:
- Access to your router using a desktop computer via LinksysSmartWiFi.com will no longer be supported.
- To manage your router settings using a desktop computer, log in to the web interface of the router through local login using either myrouter.local or 192.168.1.1. To learn how to log in, follow these instructions.
On EA series routers, you can use a mobile device with a mobile browser such as Safari®, Google Chrome™, Firefox® or Microsoft Edge™. Make sure to use the desktop mode on your browser.
- Creating new Linksys cloud accounts is no longer supported.
- Setup using the Linksys mobile app is no longer supported.
If you ever reset your router and need to set it up again, follow these instructions to set it up using a desktop computer.
NOTE: For older Linksys router models such as the EA series, follow these setup instructions instead.
- You can also add child nodes using the local web interface. Learn more.
NOTE: Adding child nodes does not apply to older Linksys router models such as the EA series.
- While some options were previously hidden, you will now have access to additional advanced WiFi settings.

NOTE: Some router models do not support the 5-Button push method for setup. If this is the case, set up your router using the web interface instead.
- For MX and MR series routers - follow these instructions.
- For EA series routers - You will need to reset and reconfigure the router to create a new password.

NOTE: Some router models do not support the 5-Button Push method for adding child nodes. If this is the case, use the CA Router Setup tab of the web interface instead.
For EA series routers, please contact Linksys support.
- Make sure your device is connected to the Linksys WiFi network.
- Make sure you know the router’s local password.
If you are not sure, you will need to recover the password using a desktop computer.
- Force close the Linksys mobile app or delete it and reinstall it.
- Open the app > click on the tab to select Router password and enter the router’s local password. The password is case-sensitive.
- If this still doesn’t work, you will need to use a desktop computer.
For EA series routers, you can use a mobile browser on the mobile device.
