As technology evolves, Linksys systematically reallocates resources more towards the latest devices and technologies.
Here are the updates:
- After you upgrade the firmware and a reset is done, Linksys Smart WiFi remote services will no longer be supported. The Linksys app will show as offline.
- Setup through the Linksys mobile app is no longer supported on the latest firmware.
- To set up the router, you need a desktop computer with the latest version of your web browser.
- The login page will no longer reference Linksys Smart WiFi.
- You can still log in using the previous router password.
- Adding a child node is done using the web interface.
- Local router management is still available through the web user interface.
- Local UI access only from a desktop browser or local login using your mobile app.
- Creation and login to the Linksys cloud account are no longer available.
- The CA link will be removed in the local user interface.
- The CA router setup tab and WiFi advanced settings are no longer hidden.

My device is not on the list of selected Linksys products. Does this mean I can still use the Linksys app and remote cloud access?
Yes, only those on the list are affected.
What will happen to my Linksys cloud account data?
All data stored in the Linksys cloud will be permanently deleted during the decommissioning process. No action is required from users.
After the firmware upgrade, can I set up my device using the Linksys app?
No, setup through the mobile app is no longer supported on the latest firmware. You can set up your Linksys router using the web interface.
Can I still use the Linksys app after upgrading to the latest firmware?
Can I still do remote access?
No. Linksys Smart WiFi remote services will no longer be supported with the latest firmware.
Can I opt not to update my firmware?
Yes. However, if your router’s auto-update is turned ON, then it will automatically update once a new firmware is available. Set it to OFF, then do a manual update once you are ready.
If I don’t upgrade my affected router, will I be able to continue using both the Linksys app and cloud?
If the router is set up and already linked to a Linksys Smart WiFi account, after the auto-update or manual update, but it hasn’t been reset, the router will continue to have cloud services. Once the router is reset, remote services are no longer supported. You can only use the mobile app via the local login.
Will my Linksys router or mesh system still work?
Yes. Your Linksys router or mesh system will continue to operate normally. Only the features dependent on the Linksys app or cloud will be affected.
How can I manage my network after the Linksys app shuts down?
You can manage your router locally using the web interface by logging in to “https://192.168.1.1” or “myrouter.local”. All router features and functions remain accessible and working.
Can I still add child nodes using the Linksys app?
No. Adding child nodes using the mobile app is no longer supported for selected products. However, you can add child nodes using the following methods:
