This article will guide you on how to update the firmware of your Linksys node or router using an iPad® or iPhone®.
A Linksys MX6201 is used in this article. Some steps may vary slightly depending on the model and version of your router.
Directions:
1. Download your router's latest firmware and save it to your preferred destination folder on your iOS device.
2. Connect your iPad® or iPhone® to the router’s WiFi name, i.e., _VelopSetupEC7.
3. Log in to the router's web browser. Open a Safari® browser, enter “https://192.168.1.1” in the Address bar, and tap Go.
4. Tap on AA and select Request Desktop Website.

If you are using a Chrome™ browser, tap the more icon (three dots), and then tap Request Desktop Site.
5. You will be prompted for the router's admin password. Enter “admin” in the Router Password field and tap Sign In. If you have customized the password, use it instead. If you are asked to create a new password, follow the on-screen instructions to do so.
For iPhone, you may be required to log in with your Linksys cloud account email and password. Enter your credentials and tap Sign In.

6. Once you are logged in, tap on the CA link at the bottom-right corner of the screen.
7. Tap on Connectivity.
8. In the Basic tab > Firmware Update section, tap on Choose File.
Select the firmware file that you have downloaded and then tap Start.
The Choose File option for manual update may not be available on iPad if it is on Request Mobile Website mode. Make sure to set the browser view to Request Desktop Website/Request Desktop Site.
9. The firmware upgrade will begin and a progress bar will appear.
10. Tap on Ok when you see the Firmware update complete message.
11. The router will reboot to complete the update process. Tap on Ok.
You should now have successfully upgraded your router’s firmware.
