Proper boot sequence for Velop after initial setup

When a parent node is centrally located in a house, there is a chance that all child nodes will connect directly to the parent node because it has the strongest signal available.  But for some networks where the parent node is not centrally located in the house, sometimes the farthest child node will keep connecting to the parent node instead of connecting to a closer upstream child node to form a network chain.  This can occur because the received signal strength indicator (RSSI) level of the child node is still strong enough to stay connected to the distant parent node instead of joining a closer and stronger upstream child node in the network chain.  To solve this, follow the proper Velop boot sequence below.
 

 
Directions
 
1. Make sure to set up all the nodes at the parent location.  

2. After setting up, turn OFF all the nodes including the parent node.

3. Turn ON the parent node and wait for the light to turn blue.  It may blink red for a bit, then ultimately turn and stay solid blue.

4. Walk and place child node #1 on your desired location, close enough to the parent node.  Turn the node ON and wait for the light to turn blue.  It may blink red for a bit, then finally a solid blue light will show.  

QUICK TIP:  If the light on the child node stays yellow, its connection to the parent node is too weak; move it closer to the parent node.  If the light stays red, the connection to the parent node is broken and it needs to be moved closer to the parent node.

5. Walk and place child node #2 on your desired location, close enough to child node #1.  Turn the node ON and wait for the light to turn blue.  It may blink red for a bit, then finally a solid blue light will show.  

QUICK TIP:  If the light on the child node #2 stays yellow, its connection to the child node #1 is too weak; try moving it closer to the child node #1.  If the light stays red, the connection to the child node #1 is broken and it needs to be moved closer to the child node #1.

6. Walk and place the child node #3 on your desired location, close enough to the child node #2.  Turn the node ON and wait for the light to turn blue.  It may blink red for a bit, then finally a solid blue light will show.

QUICK TIP:  If the light on the child node #3 stays yellow, its connection to the child #2 is too weak; move it closer to the child node #2.  If the light stays red, the connection to the child node #2 is broken and it needs to be moved closer to child node #2.

 
This will ensure that all nodes are connected to their correct upstream node in the network daisy chain.
 
NOTE:  To confirm which nodes each child node is connected to, launch the Linksys app and go to Network Administration.  If the daisy chain is correct or incorrect and you still experience slow connectivity or speeds, contact Linksys Support.
